Progress Report

Another doctor's appointment this morning...after a half hour in the waiting room, and another 45 minutes in the exam room, I finally got to see my doctor! Hate that. But it was worth the wait...I am 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced, and she could feel the baby's head, so that's progress at least! 1 cm down, and 9 to go. *sigh* I am not a patient person, and this waiting game sucks. But hey, at least I probably won't go until January 20th, which is the latest my doctor will let me go before inducing. :) On the other hand, the swelling is now creeping into my hands...rings still fit, although perhaps not for much longer. I can't say the same for my shoes; brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "barefoot & pregnant." I am trying to control the swelling in my feet by keeping them elevated as much as possible...which does help to some extent, but then I get a backache & heartburn from lying down. So I sit up, and my feet swell back up. Argh! Come on, Rhys!

Baby sitting is something to be desired

At the doctor's today we discussed how to reduce the swelling in my marshmallow feet...keep them elevated higher than my heart for half the day (easier said than done), drink lots of water w/lemon or caffeinated iced tea, and walk around once/hour. I really hope that all helps. My blood pressure is fine for now (118 over something), but they do want me to watch it just because of the swelling in my feet. Rhys has dropped *some* but not a whole lot; the doctor said I'd know when he really drops cause it will feel like I'm sitting on him (something to look forward to). My next appointment isn't for another 10 days, so hopefully by then I'll have made some more progress!

The final Countdown

The countdown has begun! Less than 4 weeks until the official due date of January 10, 2008, and we are ready for Rhys' arrival. The nursery is all set up (see pics below), the carseat installed, and the bags packed...now we just need the baby to cooperate so mama can have her feet back instead of the stay-puff marshmallows that are currently masquerading as her feet. :) Next doctor's appointmet is Tuesday, December 18th, so we'll see what the doctor has to say about when Rhys might make his appearance!

The first post

During an IM chat w/ Brose , we were chatting about how we'll (I) get updates once Heather goes into labor. Heather's hospital is awesome and has internet access..soooooo, I had a lightbulb moment and thought if we had a blog setup, Heather, Brose or myself could post to it for all the family and friends to see. After I post this, I'm going to share the login/password info w/ the new mom and dad to see if they'll go for it... I think the best part is that you can upload pics as well!! We know that's critical for those of us that will be tied to our computers waiting for updates...
